A new strategic focus turns TOP-TOY back to retail only
Today February 5th, all NORSTAR employees were informed of TOP-TOY’s decision to close their wholesale operation NORSTAR, once this year’s Christmas sales season is concluded.
TOP-TOY has recently launched their new 2020 strategy with the aim of boosting and speeding up the development and growth of the company. One strategic choice in this new vision for TOP-TOY in 2020 is to focus all efforts on the retail branch of the company – the well-known BR and TOYS”R”US stores in the Nordic countries.
This means that TOP-TOY will be closing down NORSTAR. Closing down a company with the implications this will have for the affected staff is no easy decision to make, and the employees in question will be offered support and help in moving on to other career opportunities.
NORSTAR, who celebrated its 50thanniversary two years ago, went through a restructuring process in the fall. Today the business is a sound and profitable one, and the decision to close down is as such a strictly strategic one.
Although the closure of the wholesale branch of TOP-TOY has been a difficult decision to make, we are convinced that this increased focus on TOP-TOY’s core business – retail – is the right strategic road to choose.
