All our Halloween products, from costumes to accessories and makeup, have been subject to thorough testing by certified suppliers, independent testing labs or in-house experts
We love to have children as a target group, but it’s also a very serious responsibility. We want our young consumers to be safe when playing with our toys. So when we select products for our assortment, safety is at the centre of our attention every step of the way. This is why all our Halloween products, from costumes to accessories and makeup, have been subject to thorough testing by certified suppliers, independent testing labs or in-house experts.
We meet and exceed strict EU safety regulations
All the products we sell meet the standard EU safety requirements. And when it comes to ingrediens in make-up, we actually go above and beyond the standards set by the EU. Even though the official cosmetics regulation, to which our make-up is subject, does not forbid classical preservatives in it, we do not accept any preservatives that are known to cause problems with allergy.
Rigorous testing to ensure toy safety
All our products have had to endure heavy testing for flammability, loose straps and harmful chemicals, before they are allowed to climb onto a shelf in one of our stores.
We check the flammability of all materials
Our Halloween costumes have all been through a flammability test to ensure that the materials used in the outfits are in accordance with EU regulations. Safety requirements for headgear are even stricter as all products must self-extinguish if subjected to fire, including all Halloween wigs and masks of course.
No loose ends!
In compliance with Standard EU safety regulations, our Halloween costumes are ‘slide safe’, meaning attached parts like strings, cords and chains are not, for example too long, making them more probable to cause harm. Costumes for children under 3 are tested even more vigorously for small parts as this age group may put objects in the mouth.
No unwanted chemicals
Before our Halloween products reach the stores they are also all thoroughly checked for chemical ingredients such as AZO colour, formaldehyde and phthalates which are known to be harmful to the health and are therefore forbidden.
Suppliers must meet high safety standards to play with us
TOP-TOY wishes to work towards a sustainable future and therefore puts many resources into ensuring that the products we purchase are manufactured under safe and ethically compliant conditions for the factory workers producing them. All our suppliers have to follow our Factory Compliance Standards and may only use factories that are committed to meeting or exceeding our requirements, which are based on ILO Conventions, the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact and the ICTI Code of Business Practices.
We also train our suppliers in the EU Toy Safety Directive July 2013, as we feel they need to know how to make proper safety assessments and provide us with the right documentation.
